Shortened Posts

For the last few years, I've done rather wordy write-ups of the chapter, reasons behind it, and the like. I suspect that these chapter announcements will get shorter in the coming weeks. I don't think anyone is getting something out of them.

Consent

That said, this is an important chapter for me. I've been polygamous for pretty much my entire sexual life, I'm just nonpracticing and have been for almost twenty years. Some of those traits, however, have integrated into my life when it comes to relationships.

Which leads us to this chapter, negotiation. The more people involved in a relationship, the more they have to communicate. Drama is magnified exponentially by the number of people involved, not only the adults who are involved but also the secondary relationships. To have a safe, stable relationship requires considering children, parents, and even jobs.

I once saw this frustrating short on a HBO story of a woman who had a BDSM master and completely ignored her husband and children. There was also a essay about a woman who's husband cheated so much they decided to be “poly” but she spent her time sitting on the porch regretting her decisions. I hated both of those because they showed being poly or in an open relationship in the wrong like. Likewise, Fifty Shades of Gray will always be about an abusive relationship with BDSM more than a love story.

I'm trying to show something else. Mindil, who has embraced being poly, is open, honest, and clear about what she wants. That personality shows from the first time she is shown on page and I hope I put her across as being compassionate and empathic in addition to her own desires.

Kendrick and Lily, are newcomers to that lifestyle though each one came into this scene from a different angle: Lily didn't want to choose whereas Kendrick accepted that having Lily meant there was more than just one-on-one.

This scene is about establishing boundaries, where they are, what is expected. I think the same thing should be true with monogamous relationships, communication is important to avoid friction or misunderstanding later. They may change later, but better to talk things out before the heat of passion.

If I ever write bondage, I ensure you there will be a similar scene there too, for the same reasons. I suspect you'll find this scene in many stories I want to write.

Hasan isn't included here, but there are reasons. By the time he gets involved, he will also understand the boundaries.

The End is Nigh

I actually see the end of this novel. At the current plot, chapter forty-three will be the epilogue and the end of the novel. Once I finish that, I'll probably start serializing Flight of the Scions and letting this one sit before going over it a few more times.

I don't plan on updating Ello or Wattpad with the edits. The primary home is on fedran.com because it picks up my changes within a day.
